Says Bowers, “I started to look for an internship for the summer and came across an ad that said “Marketing Intern Needed for Gay Surrogacy Agency.” I mean, who wouldn’t be intrigued?! I have a Business Degree with a specialization in Marketing, I’m Bisexual and my Dad is a gay man. The stars aligned and I became aware of something that was never really on my radar before.”
By the end of that summer internship, Erica was hooked. She returned to school and then joined the company full time in June of 2004. Now, as President, her duties include client development, egg donor and surrogate admissions, case management, finance and operations.
All intended parents are encouraged to complete a financial consult with Erica during the admissions stage of their surrogacy. She also gets the exciting opportunity to conduct initial consultations with prospective intended parents, as well as host match meetings between those IPs and their future surrogate.
Those match meetings top the list of Erica’s favorite part of her job. Bowers says, “It’s such a big milestone for surrogates and intended parents and it’s a privilege to be a part of such an important milestone!” She enjoys making continuous improvements to the GG business approach, both internally and externally.
Erica is also proud member of the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) family, too. After her internship with GG, Erica decided to become an egg donor. Later, Erica would again turn to ART to create her own family. She became the parent of two boys through IVF and the help of a sperm donor. Erica marks becoming a parent as her proudest life achievement.
Erica and her family enjoy travel, and have a lengthy “bucket list” of places they’d like to see. Included on her list are South America, Africa, and many United States National Parks.
Erica holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a Specialization in Marketing from Central Washington University.
