Staff Feature: Teo Martinez

Growing Generations’ CEO Teo Martinez has been with the company nearly from its birth, signing on in 1999! As CEO, Teo oversees marketing and corporate finance operations, but spends much of his time focusing on things that help to improve upon the experience of all involved in this process. Teo’s ultimate goal through these initiatives is to solidify GG as the benchmark for quality and care in the surrogacy and egg donation industry.

It is quite likely that an intended parent, surrogate or egg donor will interact with Teo during his or her journey, but may never know it. Teo routinely inserts himself into different aspects of the process, often answering a call from someone inquiring about GG’s services.

Like so many in this field, Teo says he feels as though this career path chose him. He came on board in a part time capacity to work his way through college, and simply never left. He notes that the staff and his interactions with them are among his favorite parts of his job. “I love how passionate they are about this process. They all are so unique and funny, yet caring. I am excited to get to the office”, said Martinez.

A firm believer in family, Teo is a newlywed who is anxious to start his own family. His family is very close knit, often traveling together, and is dedicated to maintaining family traditions.

When asked his proudest moment, Teo provides a deeply emotional and sincere answer saying, “I’ve been blessed to have so many moments I am proud of, but I think the one I love the most is playing with my nine-year old nephew at the beach the day after his father, my brother, died. It’s not that I was proud of myself for playing with my nephew, in fact I often feel that I don’t do enough for him. But I was proud to have been allowed to have had that experience—proud of myself that I allowed myself to feel the love and the sadness and to experience each as they came. My job has taught me a lot about what really matters in life.”

Outside of work Teo’s hobbies vary with the season. From backpacking, canyoneering, hiking, deep water and shipwreck diving, and martial arts, Teo enjoys an active lifestyle. The son of a flight attendant himself, it is no surprise that travel is also a keen hobby for Growing Generations’ top executive.

Topping his bucket list is motorcycling through India and Nepal, authoring a book, and developing six pack abs.

Teo holds an undergraduate degree from UCLA in Classical Civilizations and an MBA from Pepperdine in Business Administration.
