Surrogacy for Intended Parents in New York City
Becoming a parent through surrogacy in New York City means access to experienced medical and legal professionals in one of the country's most established surrogacy markets.
Growing Generations has supported intended parents based in New York City for decades. Historically, New York law didn't permit the embryo transfer, the surrogate's residence, or the birth itself to take place in-state — so while we've long guided NYC-based families through surrogacy, the surrogacy itself happened elsewhere. New York's 2021 Child-Parent Security Act changed that landscape, opening the door to compensated gestational surrogacy within the state.
We coordinate every element of your surrogacy journey, including surrogate matching, clinic communication and case management, tailored to your path. Growing Generations brings 30 years of expertise guiding intended parents through each step, from initial consultation to birth and beyond.
We are licensed to provide surrogacy services in New York. This allows us to coordinate locally while coordinating the process across the United States when it’s needed. Many NYC-based families work with surrogates in other states.
Surrogate matching is based on compatibility, shared expectations, and alignment, not just proximity alone. It’s about finding the right fit for your family, someone who aligns with your expectations and shared vision for the journey ahead. Your surrogate is matched from Growing Generations' national network based on the best fit for your family. While New York's legal framework has opened the door to in-state surrogacy, most matches for NYC-based intended parents continue to involve surrogates located elsewhere in the country.

How does Growing Generations support New York City-based families?

We coordinate each step of your surrogacy. Whether your surrogate is located in New York or elsewhere in the United States, we coordinate every step so that communication, timelines, and expectations remain consistent.
New York has an established legal framework that supports surrogacy, providing a defined structure for both you and your surrogate. Created in 2021 through the Child-Parent Security Act, this legal framework legalized compensated gestational surrogacy in the state. It also set forth protections for all parties involved. Growing Generations is licensed to provide surrogacy services within the state, allowing us to guide you through this process with an understanding of local requirements.
Surrogacy is a legal process that requires individualized guidance. You will work with experienced reproductive attorneys to understand the specific legal requirements that apply to your journey, whether within New York or across other jurisdictions. This includes parentage, contracts, and documentation.
Our role is to coordinate alongside your legal team, ensuring that each step aligns with both the medical and legal aspects of your journey. By approaching this collaboratively, we help create a process that feels supported and seamless right from the start.
Growing Generations screens every surrogate before her clinic medical review. Screening includes:
Psychological Screening
Criminal Background Check
Income Verification
Previous Pregnancy History Review with Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists
Depending on your match and medical plan, some travel may be required, but we work to ensure that logistics are communicated clearly and carefully coordinated.
Surrogacy is a 16 to 18-month journey, and no one should navigate it alone. At Growing Generations, we support every surrogate with a dedicated point of contact who remains with you throughout the experience. Our approach is hands-on from screening to post-delivery. You'll have access to our Education & Experience team, along with a resource portal that includes educational materials, video guidance and preparation tools, and ongoing check-ins.
